Please read the setup section, the app is intuitive but doesn’t have an onboarding flow yet and some settings need to be done manually. If you need help or have suggestions please join the Discord.

Why does this exist?

A couple of years ago, I bought into the hype that XR glasses would 10x my productivity. I imagined working anywhere with floating screens around me. But the reality? the software was slow and clunky.

Fast forward, and while the hardware has improved a bit, the software still hasn’t caught up. The goal of AirDesktop is to build a fast, lightweight, and reliable virtual screen experience for Mac (and hopefully Windows one day).

How to install

  1. Click here to download the app (2.5MB)
  2. Double-click the AirDesktop.zip file to unarchive the app;
  3. Drag the AirDesktop app file to the Applications folder (this is important for updates to work);
  4. Make sure to read the setup instructions.

How to get started

There is a happy path and following the instructions below will hopefully give you a good experience using the virtual workspace.

These are the settings I found work best so far but in future updates we’ll experiment with 3D and other options. Click on the little arrow ▶ to expand each section.
